David Knopf | Why do cats slumber so? Because they can

I’m sure there’s a perfectly good reason why cats sleep so much, something based on the findings of leading cat researchers at top universities.  But as the result of my own haphazard speculation, I’ve determined that cats sleep so much because: a) we feed them and they have absolutely nothing better to do other than preen themselves and occasionally visit the Little Cat’s Room; and b) they know exactly how to trip my jealousy button.
